Realizing Existence through Form and Intimate Substance
At Gallery BK’s refined space, modern ceramics and abstract paintings—each radiating a subtle beauty through simplistic form—have come together, highlighting their "being-there" as existential works of art. Hong Soo-yeon’s greens, which seem to float in an unrealistic and mysterious zero-gravity void, and Lee Hun-chung’s ceramics, with their restrained forms firmly rooted to their pedestals by the gravity of clay, maintain a tense equilibrium of equivalent forces rather than merely blending together. The works of both artists share a similar depth, born from the laborious physical effort and the painstaking patience of the artist’s fingertips. Possessing their own disciplined aesthetics, these pieces radiate their respective presence without encroaching upon each other’s aura.
